Term Of The Day: Data Center Data centers are physical or virtual infrastructure used by enterprises to house computer, server and networking systems and components for the company’s information technology (IT) needs, which typically involve storing, processing and serving large amounts of mission-critical data to clients in a client/server architecture. A data center, or datacenter, often requires extensive redundant or backup power supply systems, cooling systems, redundant networking connections and policy-based security systems for running the enterprise’s core applications. Data center management involves ensuring the reliability of both the connections to the data center as well as the mission-critical information contained within the data center’s storage. It also entails efficiently placing application workloads on the most cost-effective compute resource available. THE RISE OF THE SOFTWARE-DEFINED DATA CENTER While data centers are traditionally thought of as large-scale physical environments where an extensive number of computers and servers are housed, the software-defined data center (SDDC) has created a new breed of virtualized data centers and cloud-based data centers that extend a company s on-premises infrastructure to off-premises sites. These virtual data centers can serve as a bridge to the enterprise’s private data center in a hybrid, or blended, fashion, or the company can completely offload its data center operations by relying on a public data center from a third-party service provider. |
A: Many internship experiences are paid. Still, you may find an unpaid internship available from time to time. It may be worth considering an unpaid internship, depending on the kind of experience you're looking for.

A: Internships aren't only for students. While most interns are college students, adults may also work an internship for similar reasons as their college-aged counterparts. An adult may be able to negotiate for a paid internship, while a college student may receive college credit instead.
A: Internship requirements vary, depending on the type of organization and industry. But all interns need a well-written resume, transcripts, and letters of recommendation prepared with their application. Employers may have additional requirements, such as a specific major or writing samples.
A: An average internship is 3-4 months coinciding with a student's typical semester or summer. A key factor in determining proper internship length is that an internship should be long enough for a student to get into the rhythm of the position and complete deliverables that are valuable to you and them.
A: Internships are usually temporary; lasting from a few months to a year. The primary objective of an internship is to gain experience and exposure to a certain field, assist the full-time employees, and learn. Internships can be paid or unpaid. Employment is a job that is paid either hourly or by a salary.
A: A good desired salary for an internship is $15 to $20 an hour. The range in how much an internship may pay can start from as little as $12 an hour to as much as $29 an hour. Factors such as industry and location Influence how much an intern can make.

An additional 14% of all interns in the U.S. are given a part-time job offer after completing their internship. 80% of interns who are extended job offers at the company where they interned accept them.
